Bulacan delegation ends Batang Pinoy 2025 campaign with 11 medals

CITY OF MALOLOS — In a grueling race to victory, the delegation of young Bulakenyo athletes displayed a masterful feat in the 2025 edition of Batang Pinoy after pocketing 11 medals in total — two golds, two silvers, and seven bronzes — sealing the 92nd spot for Bulacan out of 159 competing cities and provinces in the country last October 25 to 31 in General Santos City, South Cotabato.

The delegation proved once again their dominance in Taekwondo by delivering two golds and one bronze for the province, while the Chess team may not be able to duplicate their stunning run in last year’s edition, the Bulakenyo woodpushers still managed to secure two medals — one silver and one bronze.

Moreover, the province also won another silver in the Weightlifting event, followed by the Aquatics team that gave three bronze medals for Bulacan. Two more bronzes were served to the team’s medal table through Arnis and 3×3 Basketball Girls.

Despite dropping a few spots in the ranking, Benjamin Santos, Jr. of the Provincial Youth and Sports Development Office and the deputy head for Bulacan delegation remains full of gratitude and satisfaction with their recent performance and hopes to come back stronger next year.

“Actually, maganda naman ang resulta ng medalya natin. Talaga lang mas maraming malalakas ngayon na cities na sumali. [Siguro] pag-igihan pa ang training ng mga player natin at [tuluy -tuloy] lang ang  suporta natin sa kanilang mga pangangailangan. Mas marami tayong medalya ngayon kaysa last year pero syempre [maka-gold] ang target natin. At for sure next year ay babawi tayo, lalo pa nating [pagtulung-tulungang] suportahan ang mga atletang Bulakenyo,” he said.

In the 2024 edition, the province of Bulacan was able to clinch the 55th overall spot by bringing home nine medals — five gold, three silver, and one bronze.

On the other hand, Governor Daniel R. Fernando congratulated the winners and the entire Bulacan delegation for this impressive achievement, promising the young athletes of the Provincial Government of Bulacan’s full support to their training for upcoming games.

“Maalab na pagbati po sa ating mga Bulakenyong atleata na nagsipagwagi at taas-noong kinatawan ang ating lalawigan sa Batang Pinoy 2025. Malaking karangalan para sa ating probinsiya ang mga medalya at karanasang baon ninyo. Magsilbi sana itong inspirasyon para sa iba at asahan ninyo ang buong suporta ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan sa inyo pang mga susunod na laban,” the governor said.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City, popularly known as the “City of Smiles,” is set to host the 2026 Batang Pinoy as announced by Philippine Sports Commission Chairperson Patrick Gregorio during the closing ceremony.
