MANILA – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the PLDT Enterprise have signed a partnership agreement designed to boost connectivity in airports and CAAP facilities.
CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio recently said the agreement involves enhancing the digital infrastructure in at least 14 of the 44 CAAP-operated airports across the country. Connectivity will also be enhanced in the Civil Aviation Training Center and the Philippine Air Traffic Management Center, both located in Pasay City, he said.
“Our commitment is to bring reliable, secure, and efficient digital infrastructure that aligns with CAAP’s vision of becoming a global brand of excellence in civil aviation,” PLDT and Smart head of Enterprise Business Group Blums Pineda said in a statement.
The partnership, he said, is not just about improving Internet access but also about enhancing travel experience and communication facility enhancements in other airports nationwide. Seamless connectivity will help keep operations in these airports running safely and efficiently.
According to PLDT Enterprise, a uniform, dedicated Internet access using a fiber optic network, and structured connectivity will be provided in the CAAP-operated airports and facilities. Airports will be equipped with network distribution equipment and cable infrastructure.
A unified front-end tool will be developed to help end-users connect to the service. Through the partnership, CAAP ensures that the airports will be well-equipped to support increasing passenger traffic and operational demands.
“By strengthening our digital infrastructure, we are enhancing operational efficiency and elevating the overall passenger experience to meet global standards,” CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario said in a statement. (With PNA)
