Serpent eagle rescued in Bulacan town

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) recently turned a rescued brown serpent eagle to the DENR Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in Guiguinto town.

In an interview, Katrina Anne Bernardo-Balingit, Provincial Public Affairs Office chief, said the bird measures one foot tall, with a wingspan of four feet and weighs approximately 2.5 kilograms.

The distressed serpent eagle was found last February 9 by Rufino Lañada of Barangay Sta. Rita, who immediately handed it over to the Provincial Engineer’s Office in Barangay Tabang.

Balingit said the bird was later relocated to the Official Residence of the Provincial Government of Bulacan where it was cared for for more than a week.

The serpent eagle, she said, will subsequently be transferred to the Manila Wildlife Rescue Center in Quezon City.
