Recognition of Outstanding Filipino Innovation at NICE 2026

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), under the leadership of Secretary Renato Solidum Jr., together with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines headed by Director General Atty. Teodoro Pascua and the Technology Application and Promotion Institute led by Director Atty. Marion Ivy D. Decena, proudly recognized outstanding Filipino inventors for their exemplary achievements in international innovation competitions.

This recognition was conferred during the National Invention Contest and Exhibits 2026 held on April 27–28, 2026 at the Acacia Hotel Manila. The event serves as the country’s premier platform showcasing the ingenuity, creativity, and global competitiveness of Filipino innovators, bringing together top finalists from across the nation.

Among the distinguished awardees is Inv. Richard B dela Cruz , Rommel dela Cruz, et al., recognized for their innovative work titled “DEMOLLUSCUM CREAM ” treatment for poxvirus especially for children who suffered this skin disease .This breakthrough highlights the potential of locally developed medical technologies to address critical health challenges and contribute to global advancements in dermatological care.

The recognition underscores the collective commitment of DOST, IPOPHL, and DOST-TAPI to promote, support, and commercialize Filipino inventions, while providing innovators with opportunities for international exposure and collaboration. NICE 2026 continues to serve as a vital platform in elevating homegrown technologies toward real-world application and global impact, reinforcing the Philippines’ position in the international innovation landscape.

Through this milestone achievement, Inv. Richard and Rommel B. Dela Cruz and his team exemplify the spirit of Filipino excellence in science, technology, and innovation—bringing pride to the nation and inspiring future generations of invention.
