Guiguinto, Bulacan– July 28, 2026 – The Climate Change Task Force (CCTF) conducted a specialized rappelling and technical rope access training for its STEP Command Officers here, boosting emergency response readiness while advancing the Climate Action Now! advocacy.
The activity was headed by National Commander Richard Nixon Gomez. Facilitated by the Zion Emergency and Disaster Rescue Unit, under the leadership of Mr. Ryan Apduhan, the session covered proper harness fitting, knot-tying, controlled descent, equipment maintenance, and emergency rescue procedures—critical skills for responding to typhoons, floods, landslides, and other climate-driven disasters. Instructors demonstrated safe suspension and maneuvering techniques on purpose-built rigs, while all participants completed guided practice under direct supervision.
Participants donned shirts bearing the Climate Action Now! message, reinforcing that building operational resilience goes hand-in-hand with environmental stewardship. “We do not just train to respond; we train to protect communities increasingly vulnerable to the worsening impacts of the climate crisis,” shared Apduhan. “Preparedness is both a life-saving measure and a key part of our collective climate action.”
