SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The La Union LGU and  the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) have put up an advanced medical post (AMP) as part of the action plan of the province against the Covid-19 Delta variant.

La Union provincial information officer Adamor Dagang said Tuesday the AMP is one of ITRMC’s response to the needs of patients, especially amid the threat of the Delta variant.

“It will be an extension of the hospital’s emergency room. While waiting to be admitted to the hospital, in case of a surge in Covid-19 cases, the patients will stay there instead of waiting in hallways or parking lots. It is safer as well,” he said.

Dagang said the AMP will serve as a pre-hospital layer within the hospital’s vicinity to guarantee a safer emergency room during surges, and mitigate infection transmission while providing urgent and emergent care to complex cases. It will  serve as a waiting area for patients needing tertiary care services pending confirmatory tests for Covid-19.

The La Union provincial government, through its Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), has set up four single container vans in front of ITRMC that will serve as AMP facilities.
