DOTr to deploy more buses to EDSA during MRT-3 shutdown

Withthe suspension of operations of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) during the Holy Week, more buses will be deployed on the EDSA Carousel route to ensure adequate public transportation.

MRT-3 Director Michael Capati said the Department of Transportationโ€™s (DOTr) Road Sector transportation has committed to deploy some 250 to 350 public utility buses for the route during the Holy Week from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. from March 30 until April 4.

Capati said the MRT-3, in partnership with the DOTr Road Sector, will ensure transportation availability to help  regular passengers of the rail service, while MRT-3 shuts down for its annual comprehensive maintenance tasks, which include replacement of turnouts, installation of point machine, and installation and realignment of CCTV units in stations of the rail service/

All four rail services in Metro Manila have announced a temporary suspension of services to make way for maintenance and upgrade works during the Holy Week.

The Philippine National Railway will also suspend some routes on April 1 and resume regular operations on April 5, while both the Light Rail Transit lines 1 and 2 will be suspended beginning March 31 and resume normal service on April 5.
