Cops nab 3 gun ban violators in Bulacan

CAMP GEN. ALEJO S. SANTOS, Bulacan – The Bulacan Police have arrested three persons in separate operations in this province for violating the gun ban earlier this week.

Bulacan acting Police Provincial Office chief, Col. Rommel Javier Ochave, identified the nabbed suspects as Kyle Christian Mendones of Barangay Lias, and Nomer Mendoza, of Barangay Ibayo, both in Marilao town, and Marcelo Yambot, a former barangay watchman of Barangay San Agustin, San Miguel town.

The Marilao police launched “Oplan Sita” along Lias Road after receiving an intelligence report that Mendones often carries a gun and illegally fired it in Barangay Lambakin which alarmed the residents.

Ochave said Mendones failed to present pertinent documents for his .45-caliber pistol and motorcycle when confronted. The gun ban operations are in connection with the upcoming May elections.

Meanwhile, an anti-illegal drug operation by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the Marilao police resulted in the arrest of Mendoza, who yielded six sachets of suspected shabu, a .38-caliber revolver loaded with three cartridges, a belt bag, and buy-bust money.

Yambot was arrested by the San Miguel police for illegally discharging a firearm in front of his house. Police officers saw him holding a .38 revolver and ordered him to surrender his gun but he pointed the gun to his head and fired.

Police rushed him to the hospital and was later declared in a stable condition.
