The Catholic Church has appealed to the pubic to be generous and help the victims of the magnitude 7 earthquake that struck parts of Luzon on Wednesday.
The Caritas Philippines has launched its “Alay Kapwa para sa Northern Luzon” fund drive to generate public support and address the pressing needs of the earthquake victims.
Caritas Philippines urges donors to deposit their cash donations Metrobank account with Account Name CBCP Caritas Filipinas Foundation Inc. and account number 632-7-632-02719-9. For GCash donations, they may send it to 0915-209-4092.
Caristas Manila, the social action arm of the Archdiocese of Manila, said it also accepts cash and in-kind donations. “Their immediate are food packs, bottled water, hygiene kits, tents, sleeping mats, blankets and solar lamps,” it said in a statement.

The social action arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and its social action centers affected by the tremor will deploy emergency teams to further assess the damaged communities, and to see how the Catholic Church can best respond to the most urgent needs.
The tremor destroyed houses, roads and buildings, churches and other infrastructures. Heavily hit by the tremor were Abra province and other parts of the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley and the Ilocos region.
