Operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) anti-scalawag unit has arrested two ex-police officers wanted for violation of Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, in separate operations in Rizal and Pangasinan.
Brig. Gen. Samuel Nacion, PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) chief, said their operatives together with Taytay Municipal Police Station in Rizal, apprehended retired Pat. Ephraim Ferrer Jr. Whom they served with an arrest warrant in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taytay, Rizal.
Nacion said Ferrer is a suspect in the proliferation of illegal drugs and in protecting drug personalities operating in Brgy. Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City and C6 in Taytay. The ex-cop, he said is also involved in carnapping, gun running.
Confiscated from Ferrer during the search was one unit Armscor .40 caliber pistol and assorted live ammunition. The suspects was brought to the Taytay Police station for proper documentation and disposition.
Similarly arrested in Brgy. Tambac, Bayambang, Pangasinan recently was dismissed SPO1 Armando Arenas Junio Jr., formerly of the Quezon City Police District’s Station 6-Batasan. He was arrested a search warrant by members of the IMEG and Pangasinan Police Provincial Office.
Junio was reportedly arrested for indiscriminate firing of firearms every time he gets drunk and still introduce himself as a policeman. He was brought to the Bayambang Police station, according to Nacion.
Confiscated from Junio when arrested were a .45 caliber pistol with defaced serial number and inserted magazine containing eight live bullets, and other ammunitions. He is now detained at the Bayambang Police Station, awaiting the filing of charges against him.
Nacion assured the PNP is “fully committed to purge our ranks and identify rouge PNP members whether they are active, retired, or dismissed from the service.”
