Vietnam Coast Guard in PH for week-long joint exercises with PCG

Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) vessel “CSB 8002” is currently in the country for a five-day port visit and joint exercises with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to boost maritime cooperation between the two countries.

In a statement, the PCG, in a statement, said the visit is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen regional partnerships. “These engagements underscore the shared commitment of both coast guards to enhance maritime security, search and rescue operations, and regional coordination,” the PCG added.

The second PCG-VCG bilateral engagements fall under the 2024 Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Cooperation between the Philippines and Vietnam. The engagements also feature various people-to-people and capacity-building activities aimed at fostering camaraderie and enhancing inter-operability between the PCG and the VCG.

Theie activities include search and rescue tabletop exercises, joint community relations services, visits to PCG facilities, and friendly sporting events designed to promote meaningful interaction, mutual understanding, and professional collaboration among personnel of both maritime agencies.

Their current five-day activities will end on October 10, 2025. (With PNA)
