ILOILO CITY – The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Superintendent of Iloilo has expressed his full support for the education agenda presented by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in his recent 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Division Superintendent, Dr. Ernesto Servillon Jr. cited the “transformative potential” of the initiatives to improve education in the province. “These align perfectly with our division’s commitment to equipping Ilonggo learners with the skills needed for tomorrow’s challenges,” he said in a statement.
Of particular importance, Servillon said, “is the planned increase in Guidance Counselors, which will significantly strengthen our student support systems by enhancing mental health services, anti-bullying programs, and career guidance across Iloilo’s school districts.”
Dr. Servillon said the commitments to education infrastructure and teacher development are welcome. “The nationwide classroom construction program will directly benefit Iloilo’s 1,200-plus schools by addressing facility shortages and reducing classroom congestion. The creation of 60,000 new teaching positions will improve teacher-student ratios and enhance learning environments throughout our province,” he added.
The DepEd executive said their Division acknowledges and appreciates the President’s commitment to education through concrete policy implementations, significant budget allocations, and streamlined support systems for teachers.
Supt. Servillon assured they are ready to implement national initiatives at the local level through close coordination with their Central Office, partnerships with local government units and stakeholders, and customized programs tailored to the of Ilonggo learners. (PNA)
