Marines seize P1-M smuggled cigarettes in Zambo

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Philippine Marines here seized a shipment of smuggled cigarettes worth more than P1 million and arrested three suspected smugglers.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) chief, Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, said the shipment was intercepted near Little Sta. Cruz Island, Barangay Sta. Barbara of this city.
Marine Battalion Landing Team-11 (MBLT-11) troops were patrolling when the area when they intercepted a ‘jungkong,’ a wooden motorboat loaded with the smuggles valued at P1,000,750.

Ylagan said the three-man jungkong crew failed to present valid documents for the cargo from Basilan. He identified the three men as Jabal Tingkahan, 27; Aesibal Tingkahan, 37; and Isnad Laki, 38, who are all from Maluso town in Basilan.
