Housing sector cheers new DHSUD chief’s appointment

Housing developers welcome the appointment of entrepreneur Jose “Jerry” Acuzar as Secretary the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) it will provide the housing sector a “huge boost.”

DSHUD Assistant Secretary Melissa Aradanas, they are  optimistic their new Boss will further enhance the human settlement policies and programs in the country.

Acuzar succeeded Eduardo President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. administered the oath of office to Acuzar at Malacañang on Friday.

He succeeded Secretary Eduardo del Rosario, who headed the agency since its inception in 2019. The new Secretary, who hails from Balanga in Bataan, took his oath Friday before President Marcos in Malacanang

Acuzar who has been involved in large infrastructure projects in the country, is said to have literally rose from the ranks. He worked as a cutter-welder in his older brother’s iron workshop while completing a vocational course in drafting at the Bataan National School of Arts and Trades, now the Bataan Peninsula State University.

An Architecture graduate from the Technological Institute of the Philippines in Manila, Acuzar established the New San Jose Builders, Inc., now one of the country’s largest developers. His professional success is often described as “leadership and performance-based, and derived from effective hands-on management style.”
