Rediscover science, Phl thru science-travel show

Pinoys will surely rediscover the Philippines while exploring science through “Science Pinas,” the first science-travel show on primetime television.

Behind this groundbreaking TV show is the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), which officially launched Science Pinas last February 13, 2025.

This unique blend of science and tourism, aims to educate Filipinos as it showcases innovations across the country. The program offers a new set of lense on how the public sees science by combining breathtaking landscapes and scientific knowledge. Each episode highlights how scientific advancements, from agriculture to marine conservation, help communities and promote sustainability, making science relatable to all.

In his message, DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr. emphasized the need to help every Filipino recognize the value of science in their lives. “Through Science Pinas, we are not just sharing stories about science, we are sparking curiosity, inspiring change, and empowering viewers to see science as a tool for a brighter tomorrow,” said Secretary Solidum.

The thirteen episodes will explore various regions of the Philippines, highlighting the Niche Centers for Research and Development (NICER program), which includes Black Garlic R&D Center in Ilocos Norte, Pili R&D Center in Albay, Potato R&D Center in Benguet, Queen Formosa (Pineapple) R&D Center in Camarines Norte, Tamarind R&D Center in Pampanga, Bamboo R&D Center in Bukidnon, and the Giant Clam R&D Center in Pangasinan.Science Pinas airs every Saturday at 9:00 AM on GTV and Double B TV, starting February 15, 2025.
