LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) — The Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-CAR) reported a successful month-long anti-illegal drug operations in the region.
In the report submitted to Regional Director PBGen. David Peredo Jr., more than P60 million-worth of illegal drugs have been seized and destroyed in the region-wide anti-drug operations from August 1 to 31, 2024.
A total of 32 drug personalities were also apprehended during the month-long anti-drug operations. Reports from the Regional Operations Division showed that of the 83 operations conducted, 61 were marijuana eradication operations and 12 were buy-bust operations. Moreover, five were police response, four were implementation of search warrants, and two were service of warrants of arrest. All of these resulted in the arrest of 32 drug personalities, 17 of them listed as Street Level Individuals while 15 were listed as High Value Individuals.
The operations conducted also led to the confiscation of 166.79 grams of shabu, 281,165 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants, 2,850 pieces of marijuana seedlings, 40,110.00 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops, and 6,400.00 grams of dried marijuana stalks, with an overall Dangerous Drug Board value of P63,612,372.00.
PRO-CAR said that all the discovered marijuana plants were uprooted and burned onsite after proper documentation, while enough samples were taken for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit-CAR.
PRO-CAR said that the recent achievements reflect strong commitment to fighting illegal drug activities and ensuring the safety of the community by the Cordillera police force.
