BAGUIO CITY – The P368-million road project with a bridge in Ifugao, is meant to boost agricultural activities in eight farming communities and will benefit more than 3,800 farmers.
Lawyer Jennilyn Dawayan, regional director of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), recently said the project completion is expected to boost agricultural productivity and strengthen the operations of existing coffee enterprises.
“There are many coffee production activities in the area and we hope to improve the farmers’ access to the market,” she said in an interview. The improvement of the Caba-Luta-Ponghal-Buyabuyan farm-to-market road with a bridge in Lagawe, Ifugao is a Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Scale-Up sub-project proposed in the past administration of the municipal government of Lagawe. The project’s groundbreaking was held on Wednesday.
“This is a shared responsibility. From start to finish, the community, officials, contractor, and the DA-PRDP will need to work hand in hand to monitor the project, ensure its quality, and see to it that it is completed according to standards and on schedule,” Dawayan said.
“It is a dream come true,” said Vice Governor Martin Habawel Jr., who proposed the project to the DA-PRDP when he was the mayor of Lagawe.
Mayor Leslie Roy Nayahangan said the initiative is a significant blessing for Lagawe as its full potential would be realized through proper execution and the development of complementary projects. (PNA)
