CALOOCAN CITY — The City Government of Navotas has started the payout of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) cash assistance from local funds.
Some 3,407 Navoteño families have received P1,000-P4,000 from the P32-million fund the city reverted from the budget of various offices.
“The P32-million will cover the ECQ ayuda of 10,233 families waitlisted in the Social Amelioration Program. We intend to finish the distribution of the cash aid before the May 15 deadline,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.
Navotas received P199,871,000 from the National Government. From this amount, the city has distributed P181,234,000 to 55,865 families.
Beneficiaries who were unable to claim their cash aid will be given a separate payout schedule.
“The city government will also cover the ECQ ayuda of 2,690 persons with disability and 592 solo parents. The P3.2 million needed for this will be sourced from our Gender and Development Fund,” Tiangco explained.
“Times are hard. Many families have members who have lost their jobs or livelihood. Our people can rest assured that our city government is doing its utmost to support them and provide their needs,” he said. (PIA NCR)
