Manila City Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso on Wednesday, February 3 signed the deed of absolute sale for the purchase of a 6,003-square meter private lot worth P111 million for the city’s socialized housing program for more than 600 families.
The signing ceremony was held at the Oval Room of the Office of the Mayor in Manila City Hall. Domagoso was joined by Vice Mayor Ma. Sheilah ‘Honey’ Lacuna-Pangan, Assistant Secretary to the Mayor Atty. Ma. Cristina Fernandez, and Manila Urban Settlements Office chief Alexander Rosete.
Also joining the ceremony were Richard Resuello of the United Tenants and Room Renters Association of Manila Inc. and Ma. Lourdes Nicolas of the Balikatan sa Pag-Unlad Homeowners Association.
Domagoso said the Manila City government is able to acquire the parcel of land located at Pasigline in Sta. Ana through Ordinance No. 8115, enacted in 2006.
The Mayor said the lot will be used for the “Land for the Landless” program of the Manila Urban Settlements Office, a local government agency providing adequate assistance to landless, bonafide poor, low-income informal settlers and homeless families.
“This is the modern times, with a modern government, na maiparamdan man lang namin sa inyo na walang politiko dito. Gobyerno ang lumingon sa inyo, dahil ang gobyerno ng Maynila ay pinapakita ang pagmamalasakit sa lahat,” Domagoso said in a statement.
“Walang mayaman, walang mahirap. Lahat pantay pntay, nilingon ang lahat,” the Mayor added.
He also stressed that the local government is committed to providing ample and livable spaces for Manileños to enjoy a more decent urban living in the nation’s capital.
“We will not stop until we have safe and decent communities that every Manileño will be proud of. Ito ay tupad laway para sa mga Batang Maynila,” Domagoso said. (Manila PIO)
