LRT-1 weekend operations suspended for rest of April

The Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) has temporarily its weekend operations for the last two weekends of April for continued maintenance works.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) said the operation suspension on April 17,18, 24, and 25 “will allow LRMC to complete the remaining maintenance and rehabilitation works started during the Holy Week,” which include the  maintenance of trains, stations, and various systems, as well as the replacement of overhead catenary wires.

“The additional days will also accelerate the preparations needed for the commercial use of the new Generation-4 train sets in Q4 2021,” the LRMC said.

Affected commuters may board public utility buses running on the Monumento to Edsa via Rizal Avenue/Taft Avenue route during the suspension. Meanwhile there will be no changes to the train operations of the LRT-1 on weekdays, with its northbound trains running from 4:30 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. and southbound trains from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m.
