The Commission on Elections (Comelec) considers the option of a hybrid form of presidential debates for the 2022 national elections.
“On Monday, we will be having our three in one conference with regards to this new normal, we will discuss how are we going to hold the presidential debate,” said
Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo tolm media in a virtual press conference on Friday they are now studying the option and will decide it shortly. The debate may either be face-to-face or virtual, he added.
Casquejo assured there will definitely be a presidential debate but it might be better to have it in a hybrid form to comply with the operative strict health protocols. The exact form will be finalized shortly.
In the 2016 presidential elections, the Comelec gathered presidential and vice presidential candidates in a series of debates designated as “PiliPinas Debates 2016/”
Three such presidential debates were held in different venues in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao while the vice presidential bets participated in only one event.
