MANILA – Local and international innovations will be the central focus of PHILIPPiNEXT Expo to be held in Parañaque City on July 14 to 16, a representative of the Department of Science and Technology – Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) said.

During the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon program, TAPI’s head of Media and External Engagement Mirielle Vacal said PHILIPPiNEXT is the country’s premier innovation showcase, and TAPI’s first international conference and exhibit on innovations.

“The event aims to gather key stakeholders and experts from government, industry, the academe, and global innovation partners. This will focus on identifying best practices and strategies for commercializing intellectual property (IP) assets,” Vacal said.

Funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs, PHILIPiNEXT is spearheaded by TAPI in collaboration with the Asian and Pacific Center for Transfer of Technology.

“Attendees will witness world-class innovations from South Korea, India, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia, among others. We have invited local and international exhibitors from various sectors, such as climate, energy, environment, digital, and Fourth Industrial Revolution,” she said.

Vacal said the event would also serve as an avenue to promote local innovations. As the lead DOST agency in helping commercialize local innovations, TAPI provides funding assistance, promotion initiatives, and assistance in IP applications. Interested parties may visit TAPI’s website and social media page to register for the event.

TAPI will also launch a lending program and an invention contest during PHILIPPiNEXT. (PNA)
