To ensure a well-executed and standout 2025 National Science, Technology and Innovation Week (NSTW) celebration, the Department of Science and Technology Region 1 (DOST Region 1) hosted a Curation Meeting on March 3, 2025, at Fort Ilocandia Hotel Resort. The meeting, initiated by DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations, Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, aimed to refine the planning and execution of the event, emphasizing innovation and regional impact.
DOST Region 1 Regional Director Dr. Teresita A. Tabaog highlighted that the meeting stemmed from discussions with Usec. Mabborang about the importance of defining roles and responsibilities in hosting the NSTW. As the first NSTW in Region 1, she stressed the need for guidance from the teams of Usec. Mabborang and Usec. Maridon Sahagun to ensure a smooth and successful event.
Usec. Mabborang emphasized his vision of raising the standards for NSTW, making it not just a celebration but an immersive experience that sets Region 1 apart. He encouraged the team to curate unique elements that will make the 2025 NSTW distinct from previous hostings in Regions 6 and 10. Furthermore, he underscored the importance of sustaining initiatives beyond the event, ensuring that NSTW serves as a platform for long-term regional development rather than just a one-time gathering.
DOST-Ilocos Sur Provincial Director and DOST Region 1 NSTW Focal Person, Engr. Jordan L. Abad, presented the current plans and strategies, along with proposals from various DOST regional offices and attached agencies. The meeting also facilitated discussions and brainstorming sessions to streamline execution, enhance coordination, and incorporate innovative ideas.
With these preparations underway, DOST Region 1 aims to deliver an exceptional and impactful NSTW 2025, showcasing science, technology, and innovation as drivers of progress in the region and beyond. (Christian Dominic Casimoro)
