DHSUD-DOLE partnership sets up workers healthhab in Tanay

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) have partnered to help uplift the welfare of Filipino workers affected by work-related injuries.

Under a memorandum of agreement, the two agencies will shortly establish a Workers Rehabilitation Center Complex (WRCC) in Tanay, Rizal to serve as a hub for medical rehabilitation and livelihood support and offer worker-friendly housing opportunities to Filipino workers.’

“More than a formal partnership, this agreement is a tangible move towards a society that upholds compassion and inclusion, especially for workers injured in the line of duty. It’s a message that they are not forgotten and never will be,” DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said in a recent news release.DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma described the WRCC as a living embodiment of their shared vision.

The facility “values human dignity, prioritizes healing and integration, and builds systems that give workers who suffered work-related injuries and disabilities the second chance they rightfully deserve,” Laguesma added.

The Employees’ Compensation Commission, a DOLE-attached agency, will fund the project through the state insurance resource. The DHSUD will assist in drafting project specifications, bidding documents and related requirements.

The WRCC will be built on a 500,000-square-meter lot in Barangay Cuyambay, Tanay. The Department of Public Works and Highways, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Tanay, Rizal LGU (local government unit) would help ensure the completion of the project. (With PNA)
