LEGAZPI CITY – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Bicol (DENR-5) currently showcases its forest-related products as part of the International Day of the Forest 2023 celebration through the 2nd Yamang Gubat Trade Fair at the Ayala Malls here.
In an earlier statement, DENR Regional Executive Director Francisco E. Milla Jr. encouraged the commitment of all stakeholders to support the development and continuity of a sustainable and resilient environment.
The trade fair themed “Forests and Health” started March 22 and will run until March 24. It features 14 exhibitors which aim to engage the public in honoring the forests by advocating sustainable forest resources protection and conservation regionwide.
“Forests are very generous and giving, but they are also vulnerable. So, immediate actions for their conservation and protection should be our top priority. Together, let us build a safe and healthy environment for the present and future generations,” Milla said.
He thanked all participants and exhibitors for their effort and support to promote environmental preservation and conservation.
The exhibited local forest products include handmade abaca and rattan products, furniture, wooden handicrafts and items, cutleries, home decors, mats, bamboo novelty items, plants, pili, cocoa, food items, citronella essential oils, dishwashing soap, repellant, lotion, and soaps.
