MANILA, — In celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) unveiled the “2025 Year of the Wood Snake” postage stamp at Robinsons Manila on January 23.
Alongside the stamps, the Philippine Philatelic Federation Inc. opened a stamp exhibition featuring various Chinese Zodiac stamps in collaboration with Robinsons Malls.
In Chinese mythology, the Snake symbolizes wisdom, knowledge, intelligence, intuition, and creativity.
It is also associated with good luck, prosperity, fertility, and longevity, revered for its ability to shed its skin, representing transformation and rebirth.
“We wish everyone peace, prosperity, and luck for the coming New Year,” said Postmaster General Luis D. Carlos. “Like the serpent’s wisdom and resilience, good governance is about adaptability, foresight, and building trust with the people we serve.”
Carlos added that the Year of the Wood Snake will bring opportunities for PHLPost to enhance courier services.
He promised improved efficiency in mail and parcel delivery through the establishment of Barangay Postal Stations, the rollout of a new seven-digit alphanumeric Zip Code system, and the launch of next-day delivery hubs to support small and medium enterprises.
The stamp exhibition is part of Robinsons Mall’s Prosperity Trail for the Chinese New Year.
It will move to Robinsons Magnolia from January 24-26, then to Robinsons Galleria from January 28-30, and return to Robinsons Manila from January 31 to February 2.
Additionally, an event will take place on January 29, 2025, at Lucky Chinatown as part of the celebrations.
These initiatives aim to honor cultural heritage and promote unity within communities, with more activities planned to engage the public and celebrate the diversity and wisdom associated with the Year of the Snake. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
