The upcoming “Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas” on Tuesday, October 17, is set to feature the Department of Education – National Capital Region (DepEd NCR), led by its esteemed Regional Director, Jocelyn Andaya.
This event will be an opportunity for the public to learn more about the critical role of DepEd NCR in shaping the future of education in the region.
Director Andaya will shed light on the region’s mandate, its current and past achievements, and the direction the office is heading under the leadership of the 37th DepEd Secretary, Senator Sonny Angara.
At the heart of Director Andaya’s message is DepEd NCR’s powerful slogan: “Stronger Together.” This slogan underscores the value of collaboration and unity within the region.
DepEd NCR recognizes that fostering a solid educational framework requires the combined efforts of various stakeholders, including educators, learners, parents, and local government units. By standing together, the region can overcome challenges and create a conducive learning environment for all.
The concept of “Stronger Together” goes beyond mere cooperation. It speaks to the belief that each individual—whether a teacher, student, or community member—has a vital role to play in the development of the education system. Director Andaya will emphasize that this united effort is the key to ensuring that every learner in the region receives the quality education they deserve.
In the last few years, DepEd NCR has made notable strides in improving educational outcomes in the region. From infrastructure improvements to curriculum development, the department has focused on enhancing the overall learning experience for students.
With the assumption of office by DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara in July 2024, DepEd NCR is poised to further assess and improve the conditions of teachers, students, and educational facilities. Secretary Angara’s directive aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s focus on uplifting the state of education in the country.
One of the priorities under this new leadership is addressing the state of classrooms and facilities in the NCR. This is especially crucial given the high student population in the region.
DepEd will conduct thorough assessments to ensure that schools have the necessary infrastructure and resources to support student learning.
Furthermore, the department will also address the well-being of educators, recognizing that a motivated and well-supported teaching workforce is essential to delivering quality education.
Director Andaya, along with Assistant Regional Director Cristito Eco and the 16 NCR Superintendents, will present DepEd NCR’s plans for the future. These initiatives are designed to build on the achievements made so far and to respond to the evolving needs of students and teachers in the region.
Director Jocelyn Andaya and her team remain committed to creating an education system that is resilient, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of the community. With the slogan “Stronger Together,” DepEd NCR seeks to build on the foundations laid by past administrations and look toward a brighter future for the region’s learners.
