MALASIQUI, Pangasinan — The provincial government of La Union has disbursed a total of nearly P9 million to 453 public elementary and high schools in the province and distributed P9.9 million worth of workbooks for learners.
The amount came from the special education fund of the Provincial School Board, the La Union Provincial Information Office told the Philippine News Agency on Wednesday.
“The P20,000 given to each school is intended for the beautification projects and activities of schools in time for the resumption of classes for this school year,” it said.
“It is our hope that the education and youth sectors will further flourish this coming year because here in La Union, no one gets left behind. Our service is for all sectors so that everyone will progress,” La Union Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David said in a statement on Wednesday.
This is the third year the provincial government allocated financial assistance to the public schools in the province.
“Last year, the provincial government awarded PHP6.7 million to all public and integrated schools in the province,” the statement said.
Most of the schools in the province resumed classes on Monday while some will open their classes on August 5. (PNA)
