The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Northern Mindanao, through Regional Director Dr. Mark Lemuel L. Garcia and DOST Bukidnon Provincial Director Ritchie Mae Guno, presented the Project SARAI (Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry) to the Economic Development Council (EDC)-10 during its 3rd Quarter Meeting on August 26, 2026 at N Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City, highlighting its potential to strengthen data-driven and climate-resilient agriculture in the region.
The EDC-10 has expressed its full support for the initiative, recognizing the importance of timely, reliable, and actionable agricultural information in improving planning, decision-making, and interventions through science, technology and innovation.

DOST-10 also proposed collaboration seeking strengthening the integration of Project SARAI with existing agricultural programs and systems, including the Department of Agriculture’s AMIA (Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture) and other related DA programs, and support the development of IAMIS-10 (Integrated Agricultural Monitoring and Intelligence System for Northern Mindanao).
Through the integration of data from farmers, LGUs, government agencies, research institutions, satellites, drones, and smart agricultural technologies, IAMIS-10 aims to transform fragmented agricultural data into actionable intelligence, throughout the whole value chain. Ultimately, the initiative envisions improved science-based information, faster decisions, and more targeted interventions: contributing to stronger food security, increased agricultural resilience, and evidence-based development for Northern Mindanao.
