ODIONGAN, ROMBLON — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region IV-B MIMAROPA officially opened the 2026 Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) at La Marietta Events Place, Odiongan, Romblon.
Running from August 17 to 19, the opening ceremony gathered science and technology stakeholders and local government officials to celebrate innovation and homegrown scientific advancement across the region.
Woven throughout the celebration is a reminder of MIMAROPA’s unique character as an archipelagic region with five provinces, each shaped by its own island identity, yet bound together by a shared pursuit of scientific progress and regional growth.
This year’s celebration also marks a milestone, as it is the first time supplementary events are being held simultaneously across other provinces in the region, led by fellow DOST dignitaries, extending the spirit of the celebrating local science, technology, and innovation (STI) beyond a single host site, bringing STI programs closer to communities in the island provinces.
