47 firms support PH hosting of WorldSkills ASEAN tilt

MANILA – A total of 47 companies and other industry stakeholders, such as training institutions, are supporting the country’s hosting of the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 on Aug. 26 to 28, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) said on Friday.

The companies provide access to their equipment and workshops, either for training the local participants or for use during the main competition to be held at World Trade Center in Pasay City.

“By co-developing skill areas, validating assessment criteria, and participating in technical working groups, they help ensure that the competition reflects the realities of the labor market,” TESDA Secretary Francisco Benitez said in a news release.

Industry partners provide real-world training environments, allowing local competitors to hone their skills using the latest tools, technologies and processes, Benitez said.

The event’s success depends on the strong collaboration with the private sector, according to TESDA.

About 300 delegates and their companions from the 11 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) nations are expected to participate.

The competition has six skills areas with 32 specific skills such as information and communications technology, that would include specific skills on cybersecurity, information network cabling, internet of things and information technology network system; and emerging skills in the fields of manufacturing and engineering technology. (PNA)
