More doses of vax supply expected shortly

More doses of Covid-19 vaccine supply are expected to arrive shortly which should assure Filipinos, particularly front-liners and those in the vulnerable sectors of eventual  protection against the disease.

A batch of 1.5 million doses of Sinovac vaccines arrived Friday and an additional 2-million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines are expected today, Saturday, May 8, 2021 which coincides with the annual Health Workers’ Day.

At the hearing of the Senate Health Committee last Thursday, Sen. Chrisyopher, panrl chair, thanked healthcare workers and volunteers for their service to the nation during this Covid-19 pandemic. “Your sacrifices will never be matched. The entire nation owes you a debt of gratitude that cannot be repaid,” he said.

Go said he was informed by vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. that more jabs are assured of delivery until June. “Our rollout of the Covid-19 vaccination program continues,” he assured.

Go urged health authorities that the priority list, as announced be observed and there should be “‘No VIP roster’ since we all need to be vaccinated.” More jabs  will increase the vaccination rate of the country which stands at about 133,000 daily, he added.

“If we can improve on the daily 133,000 rate, we can achieve herd immunity faster,” he said and appealed to all Filipinos not to fear the vaccines, and instead fear Covid-19 virus.
