QUEZON CITY, — In response to directives from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is readying its assets and rescue personnel to assist those affected by Tropical Storm Kristine.
MMDA Chairman and concurrent Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC) Chairperson Atty. Don Artes led an inspection of the agency’s emergency and rescue equipment, which is poised for deployment as the storm impacts various regions.
The MMDA will coordinate with the Office of Civil Defense and the Department of Social Welfare and Development to determine the most affected areas for asset deployment.
Prepared resources include boats, water purifiers, chainsaws, dump trucks, and ambulances. While resources are primarily prepared for Metro Manila, the agency plans to send assistance to areas in greater need, including the Bicol region.
The MMDA is also actively monitoring weather conditions and road situations across Metro Manila from its Inter-agency Emergency Operations Center located at the Communications and Command Center in Pasig.
As Tropical Storm Kristine continues to affect the country, the MMDA remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of affected citizens. (GLG/PIA-NCR)
