Legazpi’s Kalayaan Park pleasantly invites more visitors

LEGAZPI CITY – The nicely spruced up, refurbished and inaugurated Kalayaan Park or Freedom Park here is expected to invite more visitors and tourists.

The park is a 1.3-hectare landsape in Barangay Gogon in this city. It boasts of modern and  state-of-the-art amenities which visitors find attractive and very inviting. Accoring to City Architect Rey Acosta, the park is ideal for leisure, recreation and entertainment for both local folks and visitors.

Among the park’s facilities and installations are see-saws, slides, swings, a skating rink for teeners, a basketball court and health amenities for seniors, as well as facilities for physical activities like biking and jogging.

Acosta said the park’s “most exciting amenities are its dancing fountain and water cascades with bubblers, and changing vertical jets equipped with seven changing color lights, and the well-lighted trees that can surely attract foreign and domestic tourists, especially during night time.” 

Kalayaan Park used to be known as “Imelda Park.” named after former First Lady Imelda Macos, having been originally constructed during the martial law years.

Incumbent Albay Gov. Noel Rosal had the park rehabilitated when he was City Mayor to add pleasant attractions to the city The about P15 million invested in the park surely found a sound niche in the Legazpi Kalayaan Park.
