SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Female workers of the La Union provincial government may soon shortly avail of their “Menstruation Day” privilege, which means opting to work from home during their heavy period days.
Gov. Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David posted on Facebook on Tuesday her approval of Executive Order (EO) 25 that allows female employees of the provincial government to work from home two days a month while they have their periods.
“With this EO, I hope we can spread awareness and be kinder to our female employees, especially during their period days,” she said, adding that added that aside from the work-from-home arrangement, the provincial government will also provide menstrual kits in every office.
David vowed to focus on women’s empowerment, youth development, and expanded access to quality education as Governor of her province.
Zeny Aspiras, supervising administrative officer at the Human Resource Management Office of the provincial administrator, said in a phone interview they are still finalizing the EO guidelines.
She assured that the work-from-home arrangement will remain work output oriented as provided under existing Civil Service Commission rules.”
