CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, LA UNION— The Department of Science and Technology Region 1 (DOST Region 1) proudly marked another milestone as Regional Director Teresita A. Tabaog actively participated in the 3rd Quarter Regional Development Council-Region 1 (RDC-1) Meeting held on September 10, 2025, at the Francisco I. Ortega Convention Center, Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union.
The regional convergence was presided by DepDev Region 1 Director Stephanie Christiansen and graced by Asec. Ana Carmela Remigio, Presidential Assistant Secretary for Northern Luzon; Ilocos Sur Governor Jeremias Singson; San Fernando City Mayor Hermenegildo Gualberto; and key officials from regional line agencies, local government units, academe, and private organizations.
A highlight of the event was the recognition of DOST Region 1 as a recipient of the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐰 𝐭𝐢 𝐀𝐠𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐍𝐀𝐆 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝, honoring the agency’s commendable project implementation and its strong support for the gender-responsive Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System (RPMES). This recognition reflects DOST’s consistent commitment to excellence, innovation, and inclusive development in the Ilocos Region.
Director Tabaog also took the stage to present the upcoming 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 (𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐖) 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, set on November 18–21, 2025 in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. She provided an exciting preview of the featured technologies and activities that will highlight DOST’s four (4) pillars of development on human well-being, wealth creation, wealth protection, and sustainability.
Her presentation culminated in a strong show of support from the Council, with the body unanimously approving the resolution, entitled, “𝐄𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐋𝐆𝐔𝐬, 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐞, 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 (𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐖) 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐨𝐚𝐠 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞”. The motion was moved by Former DOST Region 1 Director Armando Q. Ganal and seconded by the Council.
With this recognition and the forthcoming NSTW 2025, DOST Region 1 continues to stand at the forefront of championing science, technology, and innovation for a smarter, more resilient, and sustainable Region 1. (Carla Joyce B. Cajala)
