DOH: Nearly 4.5M Filipinos vaccinated as of May 25

A total of 4,495,375 Filipinos have already received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as of last May 25, of whome 1,029,061 are now fully protected

Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary and National Vaccination Operations chairperson Myrna Cabotaje bared these figures on said date in a televised public briefing. She said about 3,466,314 individuals have received their first dose.

Among those who have been fully vaccinated, 581,797 are health services front-liners, 195,952 are senior citizens, 250,777 are individuals with comorbidity, and 535 are essential sector front-liners.

“Most of those we’ve vaccinated, those in priority group A1, we’re already at 85%, first dose who are master-listed, second are the senior citizens at 12% only so we need to promote the A2 and A3 (groups),” she added.

Cabotaje said the highest number of jabs administered on a single day was 238,888 on May 21 due to the increased supply of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine.

The vaccination for A4 may start first week of June in the NCR Plus 8 areas which include NCR, Bulacan, Cavite, Pampanga, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Metro Cebu and Metro Davao only, while the other regions continue with their A1 to A3, she shared.

Cabotaje said sectoral prioritization is not exclusive in the Philippines. Other countries like the US and Israel have also prioritized their healthcare workers, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities.
