More and more taxpayers now avail of the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) e-services resulting in the hike of its e-payment collections which had breached the PHP2 trillion mark previously recorded.

Data released by the BIR during the recent 2025 National Tax Campaign Kick-off at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City showed that e-payment collections had hit PHP2.06 trillion from January to October last year.

The figure accounts for about 85% of the total collection during the period. The

BIR’s “digital transformation is becoming successful because we see that more and more people are actually using our e-services, especially online payments),” BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. said.

The BIR Chief said the 2025 National Tax Campaign underscores the crucial role of taxpayers in funding the country’s economic recovery and development through their timely and correct payment of taxes.

“Often viewed as a burden taxes are in fact the lifeblood of our society. They fund our schools where our children learn; they support our healthcare system where our loved ones are cared for; and they maintain our infrastructures and roads that we rely on each and every day,” Lumagui emphasized.

“Taxes are not just numbers on a balance sheet; they are investments in our shared future, in the kind of world we want to pass on to the next generation.”

He added, citing the need for transparency and accountability in the country’s tax system.

“It means that everyone, regardless of their status or background, should contribute their fair share to the nation’s development. By doing so, we ensure that the burden is distributed equitably and that no one is left behind,” he said.

“As we launch this tax campaign, let us pledge to be conscientious taxpayers, to uphold the values of integrity and accountability, and to work together towards a more just and prosperous society. Let us remember that our contributions, no matter how big or small, make a difference in shaping our nation’s future,” he stressed.  (With PNA)
