Some 58 Filipinos residing in the razed Tai Po high-rise residential condominium buildings in Hong Kong have been confirmed safe and accounted for, the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong recently assured.
In its latest update, the foreign service post, however, said one domestic worker is still missing while another is recuperating in a hospital. The consulate said it is also verifying the status and whereabouts of 91 Filipinos registered at the Wang Fuk Court, saying some “may have changed employers, moved to a different area or even returned to the Philippines prior to the fire incident.”
For those willing to provide information on affected workers, the Consulate General may be reached at 9155 4023 (Consular Assistance), 5529 1880 (Migrant Workers Office), or 6345 9324 (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration).
The blaze, Hong Kong’s deadliest in decades, has killed 129 people and left around 200 others missing. The fire started in one high-rise building in the Wang Kuk residential complex in Tai Po District on Wednesday before spreading rapidly to six other towers.
