Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, China Ambassador Huang Xilian and Congressman Yul Servo graced the turnover ceremony of the new China-Philippines Friendship Park donated by 3 major Filipino Chinese business and cultural federations to Manila City located beside the multi-billion peso Binondo-Intramuros Bridge donated by China to the Philippines. Mayor Isko Moreno, Ambassador Huang and Dr. Lim hailed the new park and the bridge as symbols of the over 1,000-year-old friendship between the Philippines and China.

Despite the rains that afternoon during the ceremony, the whole program continued, with Mayor Isko Moreno saying: “The rains symbolize blessings for us Filipinos, like this event and like these donations to the people of Manila City by the Filipino Chinese organizations and the bridge donation by China”.

Ambassador Huang also described the rains as symbolizing fortune in Chinese tradition, and he wished Manila City and the Philippines good fortune.
