DSWD recognizes, rewards volunteers for their role in its anti-poverty program

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has recognized the vital contributions of volunteers in the implementation of its Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program.

KALAHI-CIDSS is DSWD’s core poverty alleviation program. The volunteers were honored and presented awards during the “Bayani Parangal para sa Ugnayan: The KALAHI-CIDDS National Community Volunteers’ Congress 2022,” last December 14.

The awards rites served as one of the highlights of the National Community Volunteer’s Congress which provided a venue for exchange of knowledge and experiences, as well as best practices on volunteerism and community action among the workers.

In his message during the program, DSWD Secretary Erwin T. Tulfo congratulated the community volunteers for the sacrifices and dedication they shared to help alleviate poverty.

“Because of the dedication and the bayanihan spirit shown by all of you – our community volunteers, you were able to respond to the problems of your communities. From selection, planning, to maintaining its operations and order, you have done it well. This shows that the spirit of community-driven development promoted by KALAHI-CIDSS is very much alive. I am deeply grateful to each and every one of you, KALAHI-CIDSS volunteers,” Tulfo said.

KALAHI-CIDSS is a poverty alleviation program that helps poor communities to identify challenges on poverty and implement developmental projects using the CDD approach.
