DOST 02 highlights R&D breakthroughs with SUCs in Cagayan Valley Region

TUGUEGARAO CITY – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 2 office here has highlighted the value and important roles played by the Research and Development (R&D) Centers it has funded in all state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the Cagayan Valley region.

DOST R02 spotlighted the significant programs and accomplishments of each of the R&D Centers of Batanes State College (BSC), Cagayan State University (CSU), Isabela State University (ISU), Quirino State University (QSU), and Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) in virtual rites recently as part of the region’s observance of the 2021 Science and Technology Week.  

Each of the R&Ds made their respective audio-visual presentations of their DOST-funded programs and projects. They likewise did the same with the technologes and products they developed.

“I have seen the progress of the R&D Community all throughout the years. Let us work hand in hand to make future generations of our initiatives” DOST R02 OIC0Regional Director Mary Ann P. Maglasin said after the virtual ceremonies.

During the event, DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations Sancho A. Mabborang, stressed the importance of collaboration between DOST and the SUCs, adding that “researchers from the academe serve as a huge factor in forwarding R&D in the country.”

Also present at the event were the presidents of each of the SUCs in the region — Engr. Alfonso R. Simon of Batanes State College, Dr. Urdujah G. Alvarado of Cagayan State University, Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino of Isabela State University,  Dr. Herminegildo F. Samoy, Jr. of Quirino State University, and Dr. Ruth Raña-Padilla of Nueva Vizcaya State University.
