CL fields out 3K cops to ensure peace for holidays

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – About 3,000 policemen in Central Luzon have been deployed to beef up security in the region’s transport terminals and leisure areas where people are expected to gather for the holidays.

Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 (Central Luzon) director, said he had ordered all provincial and city police directors to continuously conduct police-focused operations and sustain their level of alertness and vigilance.

The policemen have been deployed to man assistance desks in transport terminals, commercial establishments, and places of worship starting December 16.

This is not only to ensure public safety and order but also to provide public assistance, in collaboration with other agencies and volunteer organizations, Baccay added.

“This will be complemented by carpeted deployment of motorist assistance hubs with route safety marshals composed of 339 police personnel in major thoroughfares and secondary roads in the region round-the-clock until Jan. 6, 2022,” he said in a social media post.

Extensive use of force multipliers, such as volunteer groups, private security guards, and government security forces as partners to enhance security coverage in the communities, is also being undertaken by PRO-3.

Policemen are also inspecting firecracker stores and warehouses in Bulacan to prevent the manufacture, distribution, and sale of banned and dangerous firecracker products for the New Year’s Eve celebration. (PNA)
